THE COST AND POWER OF PROPAGANDA
Pt. 1
The medium is so powerful that a lie can become a truth. When I say medium, I’m talking about television, newspapers, magazine, radio, bill boards, advertising, the internet, and anything that can form a message. The definition of propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a economic, social, political cause or point of view it is not impartial and is used primarily to influence an audience and further an agenda, often by presenting facts selectively (perhaps lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or using loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than a rational response to the information presented.
Propaganda is everywhere that has been around for a long time. The people that promote negative propaganda use mass media to persuade the consumer’s thinking and actions. As a man thinketh in his heart so is He. The power of thought can change your life in a very personal level. But when the mind is inundated with negative news, music, movies, t.v. shows, and etc. most people try to use the power of positive thinking. However, propaganda can move groups of people i.e. the power of advertising. One of the biggest examples is fashion and style, like one of the big fad today is skinny jeans and fake eyewear. When a famous basketball player shaved his head almost every man shaved his head. That’s the power of influences which used a famous advertising campaign “ be like Mike.” The art of persuasion with the power of propaganda can change your whole life.
The group that uses propaganda on a grand scale is the military leaders. It goes as far back as Alexander the Great and Adolf Hitler. They would use a perception as a reality. This is the work of critical thinking with a plan to sabotage that would over take your thinking and create influence, fear, doubt, or anger.
Propaganda has attacked every demographic and has influenced people’s thinking about themselves and their neighbors whether that’s positive or negative.
The most distressing demographic that has been propagandized is African American/Black people. Mass media has used propaganda to promote stereotypes that feed the American people and the world and has told our stories in negative cogitation for decades. But because of positive Black mass media fight, it has held back a lot of negative propaganda influence. This has help lead the march for education and increase middle class and upper middle class incomes.
